LaseMD

LaseMD is an FDA-approved skin resurfacing treatment that utilizes laser technology to achieve remarkable results. We have many satisfied LaseMD patients and are delighted to continue to offer this treatment to those in the Bay Area and beyond.

How does LaseMD work?

LaseMD uses non-ablative laser technology to create microchannels in the skin that allow energy to penetrate below the surface. This energy stimulates the body's natural repair system to rejuvenate it from within. This boosts the production of natural substances that are essential for healthy skin, including collagen and elastin, which helps skin to be soft, supple, smooth and tight.

In addition to prompting healing, there are also a selection of different gels, creams and masks that can be applied. These contain important skin nutrients such as Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Resveratrol and Tranexamic Acid. These products are absorbed more easily thanks to the microchannels in the skin, enabling patients to boost their LaseMD patient experience.

What is the difference between ablative and non-ablative lasers?

There are two different types of lasers that are currently used in facial resurfacing treatments. LaseMD uses a non-ablative laser. This means that whilst the energy from the laser penetrates through the skin so that imperfections can be repaired, it causes no actual damage to the surface of the skin, which is left completely intact. This means that there is minimal if any downtime, and few side effects such as severe redness and peeling. An ablative laser, on the other hand, causes trauma to the skin, causing “sheet peeling” and the period of down time is 7 to 10 days.

Does LaseMD treatment hurt?

Many people automatically assume that laser treatment is going to be painful. However, LaseMD causes only a minor degree of discomfort. Patients report that they may feel tiny spark-like sensations and warmth as the laser is passed over their skin. Immediately after your treatment you will be able to return to your usual activities. You can wear cosmetics again the next day.

What skin problems can LaseMD help resolve?

LaseMD has proven to be highly successful in treating skin problems including:

  • Wrinkles

  • Skin sagging

  • Loss of volume

  • Texture problems

  • Sun damage

  • Scarring

  • Pigmentation

LaseMD can be used on patients of all ages, regardless of their skin color or type.

How many LaseMD treatments will I need?

Every patient has completely unique skin requirements. Therefore, the number sessions of LaseMD may vary, depending on your skin condition and how well you respond to the treatment. A typical treatment will start with a series of three treatments performed about four weeks apart. We will then be able to tailor a treatment plan for you based on how your skin responds to laser therapy.

How long do the effects of LaseMD last?

Your skin will feel rough and a little like sandpaper immediately after your treatment. This typically lasts for a week but isn't noticeable. You can wear cosmetics to cover any areas that may concern you. However, this is quickly replaced with the results of your LaserMD treatment which first become apparent once your skin has healed, which is around 7-10 days later. You will find a reduction in the appearance of blemishes and pigmentation, and your skin will look smoother, healthier and rejuvenated. Many patients feel that they look noticeably younger.

Although the effects of LaseMD are long-lasting, they aren't permanent. This is because your skin will continue to age. Most patients opt to maintain their results with annual or bi-annual touch-up treatments.
